Advantages

1. Easily configure and troubleshoot the network.

Ethernet distribution frame does not need additional configuration, just reserve extra cables during wiring. When the network fails later, you can quickly determine the fault point by disconnecting/replacing the equipment that may fail.

2. Flexibility

When you need to add or replace equipment on the network, you can quickly add or replace it through the Ethernet distribution frame. Of course, it's best to sort out the wires from the Ethernet distribution frame to the terminal equipment, otherwise the messy twisted wires will make you extremely uncomfortable!

3. Save costs

In large and medium-sized networks, the application of Ethernet distribution frame can reduce the replacement cost of faulty cables. For example, if a network cable fails and needs to be replaced, the whole network cable needs to be replaced when the Ethernet distribution frame is not used. However, when the Ethernet distribution frame is used, only the cable from the Ethernet distribution frame to the terminal can be replaced, which will greatly reduce the cost of using the network cable. It is a passive device, which means that it only needs to be installed without additional power input, which greatly reduces its use cost.

4. Easily mark the connection

There are many blank labels on the front panel of the Ethernet distribution frame. You can mark the location where each interface is to be connected, which is convenient for later management.

 

Disadvantages

1. Poor scalability

Once the backbone of the Ethernet distribution frame is deployed, it is difficult to add new cables. Therefore, when you want to deploy an Ethernet distribution frame, it is best to reserve enough backbone cables.

2. Narrow application range

Because the switch can also expand the number of connections, the Ethernet patch panel has no advantage in non-large bandwidth scenarios such as home networks.
